It’s raining again today.
In Tokyo, it has now rained for 34 days in a row.
More than a month.
I couldn’t remember seeing so many rainy days in a row, and now I know why.
It is the longest streak on record.
Sometimes rain feels annoying.
Too much rain can be a problem.
Too little rain can be a problem too.
Crops need water, and of course, we do too.
Rain can be a gift.
So I want to find things I like about rainy days too.
There is a song by Motoharu Sano called “Rain Girl.”
When I listen to it, rain feels a little different to me.
Sometimes it feels like a curtain that keeps the noise of the world away.
Sometimes it makes me feel closer to someone.
And sometimes it feels like it can wash away a little of the worry inside me.
Maybe those feelings are also part of what makes a rainy day special.
